Longwood Central School District covers nearly fifty-three square miles of the town of Brookhaven. With well over 9,500 students enrolled annually, the district serves the hamlets of Ridge, Middle Island, Coram, and Yaphank. The district also includes parts of Shoreham, Shirly, Medford, Miller Place, and Upton (Brookhaven National Laboratories). Being a large, centrally located district produces endless dining options, countless shopping destinations, and an easy commute in any direction. Residents of Ridge, Middle Island, and Coram on average travel between thirty and forty minutes to work using their own vehicles. The annual household income for Ridge is $54,022, while in Middle Island it is $68,446, and $82,314 in Coram.

Transportation

Middle Country Road runs East to West through Longwood Central School District, where there are many shopping and dining options. The LIE (Long Island Expressway) also cuts through the area and will aid in your commute to either end of the island. Yaphank’s Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) station for your commute into Penn Station will take less than two hours. Not too far, in Islip is Long Island MacArthur Airport for your farther destinations.
